From the Hall of Fame plaque

Teacher/Choir Director 1952-1978 B.J. Muus directed many outstanding choirs at OTHS from 1952-1978. After graduating from St. Olaf College he came to OTHS as a choir teacher and challenged his students with a classic repertoire that prepared and encouraged them to compete and win many State competitions. He earned the respect of his students while conducting a rigorous program helping them to develop a passion toward music and a life-long appreciation of it. Mr. Muus established The Madrigals at OTHS, which was comprised of an extraordinary group of singers that performed by singing acapella before many organizations and groups. His choir students were renowned for their performances at State competitions, and performed throughout the nation on their bi-annual choir trips. After retirement from OTHS he moved back to his home town of Grand Marais, Minnesota, remaining active in performing and directing. He has hosted an evening radio show for a number of years at a local radio station, WTIP. The program is called Sounds of the Spirit. In 2007 he was awarded the station’s Broadcaster of the Year Award for his work on the air.
